Who We Are

The origins of the Jean Coutu Group date back to 1969, the year of the opening of the first establishment in Montreal by its founder, Mr. Jean Coutu. He designed, for the retail sector of pharmaceutical and parapharmaceutical products, an innovative formula based on discounted sales of a wide range of products, quality service, and long opening hours. Today, the Jean Coutu network is among the most reputable names in the Canadian pharmacy retail industry and has a network of 417 franchised establishments in Quebec, New Brunswick, and Ontario.

In May 2018, METRO acquired Le Groupe Jean Coutu (PJC) Inc. The combination of these two great companies creates a retail leader with an $18 billion turnover, well-positioned to meet the growing needs of consumers in food, pharmacy, health, and beauty.
