Postgresql Database Administrator

Roles & Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and support PostgreSQL databases in production environments.
• Perform database installation, configuration, upgrades, and migrations.
• Manage database backup, recovery, and restoration activities.
• Configure and support PostgreSQL Replication and High Availability solutions.
• Monitor database health, capacity, performance, and availability.
• Troubleshoot database-related incidents and resolve performance bottlenecks.
• Implement security controls using PostgreSQL roles, privileges, and configurations.
• Perform routine DBA activities, including patching, maintenance, and health checks.
• Work closely with application, infrastructure, and support teams.
• Participate in on-call support, incident management, and RCA activities.

Mandatory Skills

• Strong hands-on experience in PostgreSQL Administration.
• Good understanding of PostgreSQL Architecture.
• Experience in Installation, Configuration, and Upgrades.
• Experience in Replication Setup and Troubleshooting (Streaming/Logical Replication).
• Experience in Backup & Recovery using pg_dump, pg_basebackup, etc.
• Knowledge of HA/DR solutions for PostgreSQL.
• Strong troubleshooting and Performance Tuning skills.
• Experience working on Linux/Unix environments.
• Knowledge of pg_hba.conf, postgresql.conf, and database security.
• Production Support experience.

Preferred Skills

• Oracle DBA or MySQL DBA Administration.
• PostgreSQL Migration projects.
• AWS RDS PostgreSQL/Aurora PostgreSQL.
• Monitoring tools such as PGAdmin, Grafana, Prometheus.
• Exposure to MongoDB, Redis, or other open-source databases.
• ITIL process knowledge
