Posting Refund Specialist

This position’s primary responsibility is ensuring all workflows, refund requests, assigned payers are posted in a timely manner and any other tasks assigned by management. Employees are to coordinate with both their manager and other posting employees to ensure deadlines (end of month) are met. Employee is responsible for requesting and / or following up on any needed information for specific items such as additional EOBs from insurance requesting refund. The individual will be required to be flexible with his/her work schedule to meet posting deadlines at the end of the month. Employees must maintain department productivity requirements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities of Posting Refund Specialist other than refunds could include but not limited to:

• Process Refund requests
• Work Credit Balance reports
• Appeal refund requests received
• Review/work daily workflow assigned
• Follow up on requested information needed
• Follow guidelines established for refund appeals
• Communicate with other departments for prepay posting information
• Add appropriate Tags needed for additional follow up from other departments
• Ensure each line item is posted correctly - Reconcile
• Contact insurance company when required for information
• Update or create processes as needed with changes or as requested
• Verify insurance to ensure payment is correctly posted and refund is needed
• Back up other positions if needed

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma required.
• Specialist I- EOB knowledge & prior posting experience
• Specialist II-1 or more years’ experience in medical insurance posting.
• Must have accounting / financial knowledge (ability to reconcile financially).
• Ability to read and interpret payer Explanation of Benefits [EOB] required.
• Experience with refunds
• Credit Balance experience
• Insurance appeal / collection experience
• Excel experience preferred.
• Excellent organization skills.
• Knowledge of proper time management.
• Attention to Detail is a must.
