Casual Mental Health Support Worker Roles - Christchurch

We have vacancies for Pou Manaaki - Casual workers at Te Korimako in Christchurch which are our 24/7 Residential facility. The role is to provide support and assistance to Takata Whaiora (clients) living in a staffed 24/7 residential setting utilising rehabilitative principles to encourage skill development with the aim of transitioning to increasingly independent community based living on discharge.

The ideal applicant will have experience working in a community residential setting preferably in the Mental Health Sector as a support worker or a similar type role. This is not in aged care and staff do not to personal cares but encourage and support Takata Whaiora to be independent with this. You will be able to cook a meal and also have the skills and knowledge to be able to work alongside Takata Whaiora to develop this essential skill.

You will be available for shifts at short notice. We are a 24/7 Residential facility with shift hours from Mid-night to 8am, 8am - 4pm and Mid-night to 8am. Shifts are across 7 days, Public Holidays and weekends, All night shifts are awake shifts.

You will have some knowledge of Te Reo Maori me ona Tikaka or be willing to undertake training, have a strong people focus, be non-judgmental and have a broad general life skill base. You will have attained or be currently studying towards the Level 4 Health and Wellbeing Certificate.

Good written and verbal skills are required and you will be competent in use of computers.

You must have your own transport as there is no public transport available for the mid-night shift. It is essential that applicants have a current Full driver's licence, as  you will be required to drive the whare van to transport our residents to courses, appointments and hui.  Applicants must pass the Police Vetting process in order to work in our Residential facility.
