Pouching Operator

Key Responsibilities

1. Machine Setup and Operation

• Operate pouch making machines for different formats such as 3-side seal, center seal, stand-up pouches (doypack), zipper pouches, gusseted pouches, and spouted pouches.
• Load laminated rolls, set unwinding tension, web alignment, and photocell/eye-mark registration for accurate cutting.
• Set sealing temperature, pressure, dwell time, and cooling as per the laminate structure (e.g., PET/PE, PET/MET-PET/PE, PET/ALU/PE, BOPP/CPP).
• Carry out job changeovers, including size change, sealing jaw adjustment, zipper and punching (hang hole, tear notch, euro slot) settings.

Quality Control

• Check pouches regularly for seal strength, seal width, dimensions, print registration, cut accuracy, wrinkles, and leakage.
• Perform basic tests such as seal integrity, burst/leak test, and visual inspection, and record results in line inspection reports.
• Match output with the approved sample, job card, and customer specification before starting bulk production.
• Segregate rejected pouches and report recurring defects to the supervisor and QC team.

Productivity and Wastage Control

• Achieve shift targets for output (pieces per minute / per shift) while keeping wastage within the allowed limit.
• Minimise setup waste during changeovers and record downtime with reasons.
• Ensure correct counting, bundling, and packing of finished pouches with proper labelling (job number, size, quantity, batch).

Maintenance and Housekeeping

• Carry out daily cleaning, lubrication, and basic preventive maintenance of the machine.
• Inspect and replace consumables such as Teflon tape, sealing jaws, cutting blades, and heaters as required.
• Report mechanical or electrical faults to the maintenance team promptly.
• Maintain 5S and good housekeeping at the workstation.

Documentation and Safety

• Maintain production logbooks, shift handover reports, material consumption, and waste records.
• Follow GMP, hygiene, and food-grade packaging norms where applicable (BRC/ISO-certified environments).
• Use PPE and follow all safety procedures, including machine guarding and lockout during maintenance.

The company will provide the following benefits to the selected candidate:

• Total Relocation Allowance: USD 500 per month, as an estimated relocation support amount provided by the company.
• Food Allowance: USD 250 per month.
• Rent/Accommodation Allowance: USD 250 per month. The candidate's eligible rent/accommodation expenses will be covered by the company.
• Employment Type: Permanent Role.
• Job Location: Tema, Ghana, Africa.
• Air Ticket: The company will bear the cost of the candidate's air ticket for travel/joining to Ghana
