Powder Coating (Painter)

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare metal parts and surfaces for powder coating through cleaning, degreasing, sanding, grinding, masking, and other required preparation processes.
• Inspect parts and surfaces to ensure they are properly prepared before the coating process.
• Operate powder coating spray guns and related equipment safely and efficiently.
• Apply powder coating evenly according to specified thickness, colour, finish, and quality requirements.
• Set up and adjust powder coating equipment, air pressure, powder flow, and other coating parameters according to job requirements.
• Monitor the coating process to ensure consistent coverage and finish quality.
• Perform visual inspection of coated parts and identify defects such as uneven coating, poor coverage, contamination, or surface imperfections.
• Carry out basic cleaning and maintenance of powder coating equipment, tools, and work areas.
• Follow established safety procedures, PPE requirements, and workplace housekeeping standards.
• Complete production and quality records as required.
• Support other production activities and duties assigned by the Supervisor or Manager.

Job Requirements

Education:

• Minimum SPM or equivalent qualification.
• Technical or vocational qualification in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Metal Fabrication, or a related field will be an added advantage.

Working Experience:

• Minimum 1 year of working experience in a manufacturing, powder coating, metal fabrication, or related production environment.
• Experience in operating powder coating equipment or spray guns will be an added advantage.

Knowledge & Skills:

• Basic knowledge of powder coating processes, techniques, equipment, and materials.
• Skilled in operating powder coating spray guns and related equipment.
• Familiar with surface preparation processes such as cleaning, sanding, grinding, masking, and degreasing.
• Able to understand coating requirements including colour, thickness, coverage, and finish.
• Good attention to detail and able to identify coating defects.
• Able to maintain consistent coating quality while working within production deadlines.
• Basic understanding of workplace safety procedures and proper PPE usage.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physically fit and comfortable working in a manufacturing/production environment.
