Power BI Developer

Charlotte, NC Long term contract Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy interactive Power BI dashboards, reports, and scorecards.
• Gather and analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Develop and optimize data models using Power BI Desktop.
• Create complex DAX measures, calculated columns, and KPIs.
• Develop and maintain ETL processes using Power Query and other data integration tools.
• Connect Power BI to various data sources such as SQL Server, Oracle, Snowflake, Azure, Excel, and APIs.
• Optimize report performance and ensure scalability of Power BI solutions.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, data analysts, and technical teams to deliver reporting solutions.
• Implement row-level security (RLS) and data governance standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve Power BI-related issues and data discrepancies.
• Conduct data validation and ensure accuracy and consistency of reports.
• Maintain documentation for dashboards, data models, and development processes..

Requirements

• Strong experience with Microsoft Power BI (Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service).
• Proficiency in DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) and Power Query (M Language).
• Experience with SQL and relational databases.
• Strong understanding of data modeling, star schema, and dimensional modeling concepts.
• Knowledge of ETL processes and data warehousing fundamentals.
• Experience with Azure Data Services, Snowflake, Databricks, or cloud-based data platforms.
• Understanding of Row-Level Security (RLS), workspace management, and report deployment.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred, But Not Required

• Experience with Power BI Premium and Power BI Administration.
• Knowledge of Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, or Fabric.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Exposure to Python or R for advanced analytics.
• Microsoft Power BI Certification is a plus.
