Power BI Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Power BI Engineer to design, develop, and optimize enterprise-level BI solutions. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Power BI, data modeling, and Azure data platforms, with a strong understanding of compliance standards and the ability to partner effectively with both technical and business teams. This role requires advanced SQL skills, experience in data warehousing, and the ability to deliver high-performing dashboards and analytics solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports that communicate KPIs, financial metrics, and operational metrics.
• Implement complex controls, drill-down capabilities, dynamic rendering, and real-time visualizations.
• Optimize data refreshes, incremental loading, and overall dashboard performance.
• Develop and maintain data models, schemas, and relationships using star schema modeling.
• Work with persistent data, semantic layers, and interpret OLTP processing models.
• Implement role-based security models, including row-level security.
• Ensure data quality, design data pipelines, and migrate datasets across environments.
• Package solutions for deployment and manage backups and restores.
• Utilize CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments and version control.
• Create unit tests and support test automation for BI solutions.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and SOC2 standards.
• Collaborate with architects, product owners, developers, and business stakeholders to align BI solutions with requirements.
• Work within Azure data platforms (Synapse, Fabric, Lakehouse) and integrate with enterprise data warehouses.
• Leverage Azure AI services for intelligent data processing.
• Utilize Bicep scripts for infrastructure as code when deploying BI solutions.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 5–7 years of experience in BI development with at least 5 years in Power BI.

Expert-level proficiency in:

• Power BI, DAX, Power Query
• SQL (minimum 5 years)

Strong understanding of:

• Star schema modeling
• OLTP and OLAP models
• Data warehouse environments

Experience with:

• Role security models (row-level security)
• Data pipeline design, data migration, and data quality
• CI/CD pipelines and solution packaging
• Backups and restores
