An established specialist in marine electrical, electronic and electromechanical systems is seeking an experienced Power Electronics Technician to join its technical team in La Ciotat, one of the Mediterranean’s leading superyacht hubs.

Operating within the specialist superyacht sector since 2007, the business delivers technical services, equipment installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair solutions across high- and low-voltage electrical systems, marine electronics and integrated yacht systems.

Working across prestigious superyacht refit and repair projects, the team supports clients throughout the Northern Mediterranean, with occasional international assignments.

This is an opportunity to develop your expertise in marine power electronics and energy conversion systems , working with specialist equipment manufacturers and contributing to technically challenging projects within the superyacht industry.

The Role

We are looking for a technically capable Power Electronics Technician with specialist knowledge of energy conversion equipment, including converters, battery chargers, inverters and associated electrical systems.

Following an initial period of internal and external training with equipment manufacturers, you will undertake technical interventions both within the workshop and on board superyachts, supporting maintenance, repairs, commissioning and refit projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair marine power electronics equipment, including converters, chargers, inverters and associated systems.
  • Carry out testing and validation procedures to ensure repaired equipment meets required technical and operational standards.
  • Undertake on-site technical interventions at superyacht refit yards, marinas and client locations.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on marine electrical and electronic systems.
  • Support commissioning, installation and operational testing of electrical and power conversion equipment.
  • Work collaboratively with other technical specialists across marine electrical, electronic and electromechanical disciplines.
  • Depending on project requirements and seasonal workload, undertake additional marine electrical activities, including electrical surveys, wiring and system start-up.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior team members, contributing to their development and maintaining high standards of workmanship.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients, colleagues and equipment manufacturers throughout project delivery.

Candidate Profile

We are seeking someone with a strong technical background in power electronics, electrical engineering or electrotechnics, ideally with experience in marine environments.

You will be comfortable working across multiple projects, adapting to changing priorities and delivering high-quality technical solutions within demanding superyacht refit environments.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong technical knowledge of power electronics and energy conversion equipment.
  • Experience working with converters, inverters, battery chargers and associated electrical systems.
  • Ability to diagnose faults, carry out repairs and validate equipment performance.
  • Good understanding of electrical systems, technical documentation and industry best practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and deliver work within agreed deadlines.
  • Confident communicating technical information in both French and English.
  • A collaborative approach, with the ability to support and guide junior technicians.
  • Flexibility to undertake workshop-based and on-site technical work.

Qualifications

  • Technical qualification in electrical engineering, electrotechnics, electronics or a related discipline (Baccalauréat Technologique or equivalent advanced technical qualification).
  • Current electrical certifications and relevant authorisations.
  • Fluent in French and English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • A genuine interest in marine technology and the superyacht industry.

(Previous experience within the marine, superyacht, shipyard or marine electrical sectors would be advantageous.)

The Opportunity

  • Contract: Permanent, full-time employment.
  • Working hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
  • Overtime: Additional hours and weekend work as required by project demands.
  • Salary: Competitive annual salary, dependent on experience.
  • Benefits: Additional bonus equivalent to a 13th-month salary and meal vouchers.
  • Location: La Ciotat, South of France.
