Must-Have Skill : 11 kV, 33 kV and 220 kV Power Systems
Relevant Experience : 5-7 years
Overall Experience : 7-10 years
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Power Manager to lead utility-power coordination and execution of 220 kV, 33 kV and 11 kV infrastructure for the Odisha AI Data Center, from utility interface and construction through energization, commissioning and handover. Construction execution and readiness for safe handover are the initial priorities. The role will maintain continuity through commissioning and transition to Operations where applicable.
Key Responsibilities
Utility and Power Infrastructure Coordination
- Act as the primary technical coordination point for utility-power interfaces, grid connectivity and high-voltage infrastructure.
- Coordinate utility applications, approvals, surveys, route requirements, interface points, metering and energization dependencies.
- Track 220 kV, 33 kV and 11 kV design releases, procurement, construction, testing and readiness milestones.
- Coordinate with utility authorities, transmission or distribution entities, Owner’s Engineer, contractors, OEMs and internal stakeholders.
- Maintain a power-interface register identifying responsibilities, dependencies, approvals and target dates.
Construction Execution
- Lead field coordination for substations, switchyards, transformers, GIS/AIS equipment, MV switchgear, cables, trenches, duct banks, bus systems, grounding and protection systems.
- Review approved drawings, single-line diagrams, protection philosophy, cable schedules, layouts, method statements and workfront readiness.
- Monitor contractor manpower, material availability, equipment delivery, installation productivity and critical-path constraints.
- Coordinate civil foundations, equipment access, lifting, cable routes, control rooms, auxiliary systems and MEP interfaces.
- Ensure construction deviations and field changes are formally reviewed and incorporated into approved records.
Protection, Metering and Controls
- Coordinate protection relays, control panels, interlocks, synchronization, revenue metering, SCADA and communication interfaces.
- Review relay-setting inputs, CT/PT requirements, trip schemes, permissives and interface signals.
- Coordinate utility and facility protection studies, selectivity, short-circuit and earthing requirements.
- Ensure alarms, status points, controls and metering are integrated with approved monitoring platforms.
Testing, Energization and Commissioning
- Develop and coordinate system readiness, test packs, switching plans, permits, LOTO boundaries and energization procedures.
- Witness cable tests, transformer tests, switchgear tests, protection tests, relay injection, interlock checks, grounding tests and functional tests.
- Coordinate utility inspections, statutory approvals, charging authorization and staged energization.
- Support failure-mode testing, load transfer, generator or facility interface tests and Integrated Systems Testing.
- Drive closure of defects, failed tests, punch items and documentation gaps before handover.
Handover and Operational Readiness
- Coordinate as-built drawings, test certificates, relay settings, approved operating philosophy, SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, spare parts and warranties.
- Support operator training, switching authorization and emergency-response drills.
- Transfer utility contacts, escalation routes, maintenance obligations and open risks to Operations.
- Support early-life stabilization and investigation of power-quality or protection events.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in a relevant engineering, procurement, administration or technical discipline.
- 7-10 years of overall professional experience.
- 5-7 years of directly relevant experience in 11 kV, 33 kV and 220 kV Power Systems.
- Experience supporting construction execution, testing, commissioning, handover or project closeout.
Mandatory Experience and Skills
- Hands-on execution or commissioning experience with 11 kV, 33 kV and 220 kV systems.
- Strong understanding of substations, transformers, GIS/AIS, switchgear, protection, metering, grounding and power cables.
- Ability to read and challenge single-line diagrams, protection schemes, layouts and test procedures.
- Experience coordinating utilities, statutory authorities, EPC contractors and OEMs.
- Knowledge of safe energization, switching, permits and LOTO.
Preferred Experience
- Data center, semiconductor, industrial campus or other mission-critical facility experience.
- Grid-connection, transmission or distribution project exposure.
- SCADA, revenue metering and protection-relay commissioning experience.
- Electrical authorization, switching or high-voltage safety training.
Technical Competencies
- Strong practical knowledge of Power activities and associated project interfaces.
- Ability to interpret applicable drawings, schedules, procedures, system records or commercial documents.
- Working knowledge of project controls, quality, safety, change and interface management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant technical, ERP or administrative software.
Soft Skills and Behavioral Competencies
- Strong ownership, accountability and professional integrity.
- Clear written and verbal communication with employees, contractors, vendors and stakeholders.
- Practical problem-solving and timely escalation of risks.
- Disciplined documentation, follow-up and closure.
- Collaborative working across construction, commissioning and operations teams.
- Ability to work under schedule pressure without compromising controls, safety or confidentiality.
