Power Plant Operator

About the role

Operate the Wind Farm and monitor its operating parameters through SCADA, gauges, meters, relays, IEDs and coordinate with contracted parties on any deviations/errors/alarms. Operate the Medium Voltage (22.8kV) & High Voltage (69kV) apparatus (Critical Switching) in the WTG, transmission lines, substation and metering station.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the Wind Farm and monitor its operating parameters thru SCADA, gauges, meters, relays, IEDs and co-ordinate with contracted parties on any deviations/errors/alarms.
• Operate the Medium Voltage (22.8kV) & High Voltage (69kV) apparatus (Critical Switching) in the WTG, transmission lines, substation and metering station.
• Assist the Power Plant Engineer in monitoring for timely, efficient and safe execution of all works by the contractors.
• Co-ordinate with ORMECO regarding: load dispatch, load reporting, plant outage.
• Preparation of shift operations report to be submitted to the Power Plant Engineer.
• Monitor progress of outage work and PMS activities.
• Ensure safe working practices and procedures are adhered to at all times.
• Attend site meetings with the onsite personnel and Contractors.
• Attend daily toolbox meetings and daily work team briefings.

About you

• Registered Electrical Engineer
• Trained on HV switching and operation.
• At least 5 years of HV experience, licensed and authorized to operate on NPC assets.
• Prior experience in operation and maintenance of a power station.
• Prior experience in Balance of Plant including medium to high voltage switching and LOTO.
• Prior experience in SCADA systems.
• In-depth understanding of the operation and maintenance of a wind farm or similar power generating plant, substation, metering and power transmission line.
• Highly skilled in High Voltage isolation, switching and operation.
• Knowledge in SCADA and PLC systems.
• Flexibility in operation and ability to work in a team and as an independent contributor.
