About Us

Mel-Co-Ed is a third-generation precision metal stamping company that has been in Pawtucket since 1948. We make metal stampings, including jewelry findings, recognition pins, medallions, and industrial components. We're a team of about 22, so your work is visible and it matters.

The Role

You will set up and run single-operation mechanical and air clutch power presses for secondary work: trimming and piercing parts that have already been stamped, struck. You install the die, locate the part, prove out the first piece, and run the job to spec.

What You'll Do

• Set up single-station mechanical and air clutch power presses with trim and pierce dies: install and clamp dies, set shut height, align punch to die, and adjust stroke and stripper
• Set up and adjust nests, locators, and stops so parts seat the same way every hit
• Run first-piece inspection against the print or sample using calipers, micrometers, and pin gauges, and get approval before running
• Run production on the jobs you set up, keeping quality, count, and pace on target
• Watch for burrs, die wear, and mislocated parts, and stop and report problems before they become scrap
• Keep material and scrap separated by job and accounted for
• Follow press safety and lockout/tagout every time: guards, two-hand controls, light curtains
• Record setup times, counts, and scrap
• Keep your press area clean and organized, and return dies to their proper place

What We're Looking For

Required

• 3+ years setting up and running mechanical and air clutch power presses
• Able to read basic part prints and work to tolerances
• Comfortable with calipers, micrometers, and basic measuring tools
• Strong safety habits around presses
• Reliable attendance and attention to detail on small parts

Nice to Have

• Experience with small stampings such as findings, pins, medallions, or similar parts
• Basic die maintenance (shimming, stoning burrs, changing punches)
• Forklift experience

• Parts per hour against standard

Pay: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 44.0 per week
