Power System Engineer

Job Title: Power Systems Engineer

Location: Fully Remote (Based in the Philippines)

Role Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Power Systems Engineer to assume technical responsibility and provide expert consulting services for electrical engineering projects. You will play a key role in driving projects within generation, high voltage transmission, and distribution, with a strong focus on connecting renewable resources to the grid.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform and direct activities for power system studies using PSS/E, PSCAD, PowerFactory, and Hypersim modelling environments.
• Manage the enquiry, application, registration, and design phases for large energy users and renewable energy projects (e.g., HV Grid Connections, substation design, generating plant power systems).
• Provide high-level engineering and technical advice to project staff and internal teams.
• Review designs to ensure strict compliance with relevant Australian Standards, statutory requirements, and client specifications.
• Develop cost-effective engineering solutions and actively participate in a collaborative team culture, providing guidance to junior engineers and technicians.
• Assist in creating project schedules, monitoring progress, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

• Degree: Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (must be recognized by Engineers Australia).
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the electrical engineering industry.
• Technical Skills: Demonstrated experience with power system analysis tools including PSS/E, PSCAD, PowerFactory, and Hypersim in RMS and EMT environments.
• Knowledge: Strong familiarity with engineering codes, regulations, best practices, and performance standards.
• Soft Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills with high attention to detail.

Desirable (Bonus) Skills:

• Previous industry experience in the Australian energy market.
• Registered Professional Engineer in Queensland (RPEQ).
