What they need
Leadenhall are working with the power systems department of a fast growing international engineering, and environmental consulting firm, that design solutions that shape sustainable, future-ready infrastructure. Operating across Europe, Latin America, Africa, and beyond, their multidisciplinary teams deliver complex projects in energy, transport, buildings, and environmental engineering.
The role
In this role, you will be responsible for the electrical modeling, analysis, and engineering design of power systems across renewable generation (solar, wind, BESS), industrial electrification, and grid connection infrastructure. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary project teams, grid operators, and international clients from concept through to commissioning.
Key responsibilities
- Network & Power Flow Studies: Perform load flow, short circuit, dynamic/transient stability, harmonic penetration, and protection coordination studies using industry-standard tools (e.g., DigSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP, PSS/E).
- Electromagnetic Transient (EMT) Analysis: Conduct detailed EMT modeling and transient phenomenon studies using PSCAD/EMTDC.
- Grid Connection & Compliance: Model and evaluate grid interconnection feasibility for utility-scale solar PV, wind farms, and battery energy storage systems (BESS), verifying compliance with regional transmission and distribution grid codes.
- Engineering Design: Develop single-line diagrams (SLDs), substation layout concepts, cable routing, earthing designs, and equipment specifications (transformers, switchgear, protection relays).
- Technical Consultancy: Act as a subject matter expert for clients, preparing detailed technical reports, grid compliance documentation, and due diligence assessments.
Key requirements
- Education: Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 3–6+ years of proven experience in power systems analysis, grid connection studies, or electrical substation design (consultancy or EPC background preferred).
- Software Proficiency: Strong hands-on experience with simulation tools including PSCAD/EMTDC, alongside DigSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP, PSS/E, or Matlab/Simulink.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Sound understanding of transmission/distribution grid codes, international electrical standards (IEC/IEEE), and interconnection processes.
