We're looking for an experienced Power Technician to join our Electrical Services Team and help keep Marlborough's electricity network safe, reliable, and ready for the future.
What You'll Be Doing
Reporting to the Electrical Services Team Leader, you'll be involved in a diverse range of installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance and fault response activities across our electricity network. Working both independently and alongside a skilled team, you'll play an important role in maintaining critical network assets and supporting the reliable delivery of electricity throughout Marlborough.
You'll also contribute by:
- Installing and commissioning protection, control, SCADA and communication systems
- Carrying out cable, equipment, earth and substation testing
- Maintaining and installing circuit breakers and associated electrical equipment
- Constructing and maintaining substations and associated assets
- Undertaking transformer maintenance activities
- Supporting the training and development of apprentices
- Assisting with work planning and coordinating activities when required
- Contributing to a strong health, safety and wellbeing culture across the business
What We're Looking For
We're keen to hear from candidates who bring:
- Current Electrical Registration and Practising Licence
- NZ Certificate in Electricity Supply (Power Technician Level 5)
- At least three years' experience in the electricity distribution industry
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical testing, commissioning and maintenance practices
- The ability to work independently and respond effectively to changing priorities
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Strong problem-solving and fault-finding abilities
- Accurate record-keeping and reporting skills
- A current full driver's licence
Most importantly, you'll bring a positive attitude, a strong commitment to safety, and a passion for delivering quality outcomes for our customers and community.
As part of our team, you'll enjoy:
- A competitive salary that recognises your skills and experience
- Southern Cross health insurance for peace of mind
- Life, income protection, and critical illness insurance to help protect what matters most
- Access to a range of employee discounts and benefits
- A paid day off to celebrate your birthday
- An award-winning health and wellbeing programme, including free health checks, skin checks, and an annual wellbeing allowance to spend on what supports you best
- The stability and security that comes from working for an essential service provider
- Ongoing opportunities to learn, develop, and be part of the future of the energy industry
Beyond the benefits, you'll have the opportunity to be part of something bigger. Whether it's supporting local initiatives, investing in our communities, enabling regional growth, or helping shape New Zealand's energy future, you'll be making a positive difference for Marlborough every day.
Join a team that's helping power Marlborough's future.
As part of our recruitment process, the successful candidate will be required to complete pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and a criminal record check. We are currently considering applications from candidates who are based in New Zealand and hold the legal right to work here.
