We are looking for a Practice Advisor - Therapeutic who will work as part of the Care Governance & Safeguarding team and provide specialist practice leadership across services.
This is an opportunity to use your expertise beyond individual practice-to influence how teams work, build confidence and capability across the organisation, and help ensure the people they support experience safe, inclusive, person-centred and therapeutic services.
You will work collaboratively with regional teams, providing expert advice, coaching and consultation in complex situations while contributing to the development of contemporary therapeutic frameworks, resources and models of care.
What you'll do
As the Practice Advisor - Therapeutic, you will:
- Provide specialist therapeutic advice and practice leadership to support safe, person-centred and evidence-informed practice.
- Work alongside regional teams to build their confidence and capability in responding to complex therapeutic needs, risks and behavioural challenges.
- Promote trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, strengths-based and therapeutic approaches across services.
- Coach, mentor and consult with teams to strengthen professional capability, critical thinking and practice confidence.
- Contribute to the design, implementation and ongoing improvement of therapeutic frameworks, practice tools, resources and models of care.
- Support approaches that promote emotional wellbeing, inclusion, participation, independence and quality of life.
- Provide guidance around therapeutic strategies that support safety, emotional regulation, connection and resilience.
- Build strong working relationships with families, carers, multidisciplinary professionals and other stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes.
- Provide specialist advice and insights that contribute to service improvement, quality outcomes and organisational learning.
- Maintain current knowledge of contemporary therapeutic practice and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, learning and professional excellence.
About you
We're looking for someone who brings strong therapeutic expertise, sound professional judgement and a genuine commitment to improving practice across services.
To be considered for this rewarding role you will have:
- Demonstrated experience providing specialist practice advice, consultation and support within complex service environments.
- Experience coaching, mentoring and developing teams to strengthen capability, judgement and confidence.
- A strong understanding of contemporary person-centred, trauma-informed and rights-based approaches.
- The ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation, standards, policies and professional frameworks to complex practice situations.
- Knowledge of the Human Services Quality Framework (HSQF), NDIS Practice Standards and other relevant regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication, relationship building and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong critical thinking, problem solving and continuous improvement skills.
- A commitment to a systems-focused, no blame approach to safety, quality and organisational learning.
Experience across multiple service systems such as disability, child and family services, mental health or aged care will be highly regarded.
Experience developing practice frameworks, resources, training or workforce capability programs, or working within governance, safeguarding or quality improvement environments, will also be advantageous.
Qualifications and requirements
You will hold tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Behaviour Support, Human Services or a related discipline.
Professional registration is required where applicable.
You will also need to:
- Be willing and able to travel to sites as required.
- Hold, or be able to obtain, a Child Safety & Personal History Screening check.
- Hold, or be able to obtain, a Positive Notice Working with Children (Blue Card).
- Hold, or be able to obtain, an NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.
- Complete, or be willing to complete, the NDIS Worker Orientation Module - Quality, Safety & You.
