HER Accountants is a female-led, independent accountancy practice based in Dronfield, Derbyshire.

We’re a start-up practice with big ambitions, having experienced incredible growth since launching in late 2025.

We specialise in supporting women in business, working with an amazing variety of clients across the beauty, aesthetics, fitness, hospitality and creative industries.

We’re not your traditional accountancy practice. We’re passionate about building genuine relationships with our clients, offering proactive advice and creating a friendly, supportive environment for both our clients and our team.

As a young, rapidly growing business, we’re still developing and refining our internal processes, systems and ways of working. That’s why we’re looking for someone who is excited by the opportunity to help shape a practice, rather than simply step into an established structure.

The opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced Accounts & Practice Manager to join us at an exciting stage of our growth.

This is a really important appointment for HER Accountants, and we’re looking for someone who wants to become an integral part of our business as we continue to grow.

You’ll take responsibility for the technical review of our team’s work, managing monthly workloads and overseeing the day-to-day delivery of our accountancy services.

You’ll work closely with our two directors, taking ownership of the operational side of the practice so they can focus on business development and building relationships with our clients.

As a start-up, we’re looking for someone who is adaptable, proactive and happy to get involved. You’ll have the opportunity to introduce ideas, develop processes and play a genuine role in shaping the future of HER Accountants.

What you’ll be doing

Technical review & quality control

• Taking responsibility for reviewing annual accounts, Corporation Tax returns and VAT returns prepared by the team.

• Ensuring work is technically accurate, compliant and completed to a consistently high standard.

• Acting as the team’s first point of contact for technical queries and guidance.

• Identifying training requirements and supporting the team’s technical development.

• Taking ownership of the review process, ensuring work can be completed and issued to clients without routine director involvement, within agreed approval procedures.

Team & workload management

• Planning and managing the team’s monthly workload.

• Allocating work effectively based on experience, capacity and deadlines.

• Monitoring work in progress and ensuring deadlines are consistently achieved.

• Identifying and resolving workflow bottlenecks.

• Supporting, mentoring and developing team members.

• Managing day-to-day operational queries and providing clear direction to the team.

• Ensuring everyone understands their responsibilities and priorities.

• Helping to create a positive, collaborative and supportive working environment.

Practice management & development

• Taking ownership of the day-to-day delivery of our accountancy services.

• Continuously reviewing and improving internal systems, processes and efficiencies.

• Monitoring team capacity and helping to plan for future growth.

• Maintaining excellent standards of client service.

• Working collaboratively with the directors to support the continued growth of HER Accountants.

A little about you…

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has substantial experience working within an accountancy practice.

• Is technically confident reviewing limited company accounts, Corporation Tax returns and VAT returns.

• Has previous experience managing or supervising a team.

• Can independently manage workloads, deadlines and technical reviews.

• Is a natural leader who enjoys developing and supporting others.

• Is highly organised, proactive and comfortable taking ownership.

• Has excellent communication skills and a friendly, approachable personality.

• Has experience using Xero and other cloud-based accounting software.

• Is confident making decisions and solving problems independently.

• Is adaptable and enjoys working in a growing business where processes are continually evolving.

• Is happy to be hands-on and support the team when needed.

ACA, ACCA, CIMA, AAT or equivalent qualifications would be advantageous, although strong practical experience is equally important to us.
