Practice Manager - Law Firm

We started Withstand Lawyers in 2014. We're a Parramatta-based plaintiff personal injury firm, specialising in workers compensation, work injury damages, motor vehicle accidents, public liability and TPD claims.

We have workflows per practice area, written policies, and a fee-earning team. The firm works.

What we don't have is a Practice Manager, which is why every operational call still routes through the Managing Principal by default. That isn't sustainable, and it's the seat we're hiring. You'd be the first person to sit in it.

The role

You run the firm day-to-day. You hold the billing and file-progression rhythm with our lawyers. You lead the non-lawyer team, including enquiries, secretaries and reception. You run rosters, onboarding, performance and offers. You manage and improve our culture, performance and suppliers. You report the numbers against our goals and drive the changes needed to hit them. If a metric matters and we're not tracking it, you tell us and set it up. Same with policies, systems and rhythm.

The goal is to become the most aspired-to law firm to work at: better organised, with a stronger culture, more automation, less friction, and the room to scale.

The people side matters just as much. You set the tone, lift the room naturally, and hold a high standard while keeping everyone on side. We want a warm, thriving culture, without being cringe, and direct without being rude.

Requirements

These are the non-negotiables:

• At least 2 years as a Practice Manager, with demonstrable achievements
• Minimum 4 days a week
• Minimum 2 days a week in the Parramatta office

• Diagnoses what's missing. Tells us what to measure, what to build, and what to stop doing.

• Proud of the way you run things.

• A legal or professional-services background is a bonus, not essential. We care more about how you lead than where you've worked.

What we offer

What comes with the seat:

• $170,000 to $255,000 base + uncapped bonus, tied to fees collected, fees forecast, and SOL discipline
• Full authority over the operations function
• Reports to the Principal
• Up to 3 days a week working from home
• Parramatta, with in-building parking. Otherwise ten minutes from the station
• A clear pathway to Director for the right person
