Practice Nurse

About the role

Based in a newly fitted-out practice in Plimmerton village and close to the sea, Plimmerton Medical Centre is looking for an experienced and compassionate Practice Nurse to join our supportive primary care team. You will work closely with GPs, nurses, reception staff, and other health professionals to provide high-quality, culturally safe care to our diverse patient community.

Key responsibilities

• Provide immunisations, wound care, health assessments, screening, and patient education.
• Support long-term condition management and preventive health programmes.
• Undertake clinical observations, recalls, follow-up, and accurate documentation.
• Contribute to infection prevention, cold-chain management, and clinical quality processes.
• Promote health equity by identifying barriers to care and supporting culturally responsive, accessible services for all patients.
• Work collaboratively with the wider team to improve patient access and health outcomes.

About you

• Current New Zealand nursing registration and Annual Practising Certificate.
• Experience in general practice, primary care, community health, or a related clinical setting.
• Vaccinator authorisation is preferred, or a willingness to complete the required training.
• Strong communication, organisation, and clinical documentation skills.
• A commitment to patient-centred, equitable, and culturally safe care.
• Confidence working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
