Pre-Construction Manager

The Company:

Hannafin Contractors is an established groundworks, civils and construction business operating nationally, with ambitious plans for continued growth and expansion into new areas of construction.

We’re looking for a commercially minded and proactive Pre-Construction Manager to join our team at our Kidderminster head office. This is an opportunity to play a key role in securing new work, developing robust tender submissions and ensuring projects are thoroughly planned before being handed over to our delivery teams.

The Role:

ou’ll lead and coordinate the pre-construction process from initial enquiry through to contract award and project handover. Working closely with our estimating, commercial, procurement and construction teams, you’ll help develop competitive, commercially sound tenders supported by practical construction solutions.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Managing tender opportunities from initial enquiry through to contract award and handover.
• Reviewing drawings, specifications, scopes of work and tender documentation to identify requirements, opportunities and risks.
• Developing practical construction methodologies, sequencing and preliminary programmes.
• Working with estimating and commercial teams to ensure pricing, assumptions, exclusions and qualifications are properly considered.
• Coordinating with clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors to resolve queries and obtain the information needed for robust tender submissions.
• Obtaining and assessing supply chain quotations to support competitive and realistic tender allowances.
• Identifying commercial, programme, design, construction, health and safety and supply chain risks.
• Ensuring successful projects are effectively handed over to the delivery teams.
• Supporting continuous improvement across our estimating and pre-construction processes.

About You

We’re looking for someone with:

• Previous experience in pre-construction, estimating, bid management, quantity surveying or a similar role within groundworks, civils or construction.
• A strong understanding of groundworks and civils operations, construction methodologies, sequencing and buildability.
• The ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications and tender documentation, identifying commercial and delivery considerations.
• Good commercial awareness, including costs, quotations, risks, opportunities and tender qualifications.
• Experience obtaining, analysing and negotiating supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tenders and competing deadlines.
• Excellent attention to detail, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and tendering or project documentation systems.
• A relevant construction qualification or equivalent practical industry experience.
