Pre-Tender Quantity Surveyor (QS)

About the role

This is a Pre-Tender Quantity Surveyor (QS) role suitable for candidates interested in cost estimation, tender preparation, and construction/renovation projects. Fresh graduates with a Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Building, Construction Management, or a related discipline are welcome to apply. Training and guidance will be provided.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare pre-tender cost estimates and preliminary project budgets.
• Study and review drawings, specifications, scope of works and tender documents.
• Take-off and quantify materials and works from drawings.
• Prepare Bills of Quantities (BQ) and tender pricing schedules.
• Obtain and compare quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Conduct cost comparison and analysis to support tender pricing.
• Assist in preparing tender submissions and pricing documents.
• Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, consultants and internal project teams to clarify pricing and scope.
• Review quotations and ensure pricing is complete and aligned with project requirements.
• Maintain and update cost databases, supplier rates and pricing records.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Building, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Good understanding of construction materials, building works and construction processes.
• Able to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Good numerical and analytical skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Good attention to detail and accuracy.
• Able to work independently as well as in a team.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Positive attitude with a willingness to learn.
• Candidates with 1–2 years of relevant experience in quantity surveying, tendering or construction will have an added advantage.
