What they need

Precision Assembly Technician - Electronics - Medical Device Manufacturing

Build technology where every detail matters.

Some people see small intricate components.

You see precision, patience, perseverence, purpose and possibility.

If you have a steady hand, fine motor skills, a curious mind and take pride in creating things that need to be exactly right and meticulously handled, this could be the opportunity for you.

Our client is looking for a Precision Technician to join their Manufacturing team, producing advanced medical devices that combine precision engineering, optics and technology. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working with intricate components, solving technical challenges and creating products that make a meaningful difference in healthcare.

You'll be responsible for assembling highly precise miniature modules, building complex instruments, performing delicate repairs and supporting testing and development activities. Your attention to detail and craftsmanship will play an important role in ensuring every device performs to the highest standard medical standards.

What you'll be doing

Working alongside exceptional engineers and experienced manufacturing specialists, you'll be involved in the complete build and support process, including:

  • Assembling optical and mechanical components into precision sub-assemblies and modules
  • Building complete confocal microscopy instruments
  • Performing functional testing using diagnostic tools to verify performance and identify faults
  • Troubleshooting, repairing, reworking, servicing and recalibrating precision modules
  • Carrying out delicate component-level repairs and adjustments
  • Reading and interpreting technical drawings, wiring diagrams, PCB layouts and assembly documentation
  • Supporting the development of new designs and improvements to existing products
  • Inspecting components and assemblies to ensure they meet safety, regulatory and performance requirements
  • Maintaining accurate service logs, calibration records, test results and repair documentation
  • Keeping a clean, organised and safe workspace where quality comes first

About you

You're someone who enjoys precision work and understands that the smallest details can have the biggest impact.

You'll likely bring:

  • A Certificate, Diploma or completed apprenticeship in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Precision Engineering or a related discipline
  • Experience with fine mechanical assembly, miniature components, tools, jigs and precision equipment
  • Strong manual dexterity, fine motor skills, and the ability to work confidently with small, intricate components using precision tools and equipment
  • A steady hand and the ability to perform delicate assembly work with accuracy, patience and care
  • Experience with hand soldering of surface mount components is highly desirable
  • The ability to interpret schematics, PCB layouts, wiring diagrams and technical drawings
  • A methodical approach with patience, focus and excellent attention to detail
  • A commitment to quality and pride in producing work you can stand behind
  • Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, BOMs and work instructions.
  • An understanding of working within cleanroom environments, including hygiene requirements and PPE protocols
  • Previous experience working in environments that adhere to TGA, FDA, GMP, ISO 13485, or other strict regulatory standards (highly regarded)

The kind of person who succeeds here

You enjoy working with your hands.

You are patient, precise and naturally curious about how things work.

You don't rush through a task because you understand that quality comes from taking the time to get the details right. You enjoy solving problems, learning how complex systems operate and contributing to a team where everyone takes pride in the final product.

You'll be comfortable working independently while also collaborating closely with engineers, technicians and production colleagues to achieve shared goals.

What's on offer?

  • Market-leading remuneration package
  • Excellent team culture within a supportive and collaborative environment
  • Full-time, secure, and stable position
  • Consistent day shift hours
  • The opportunity to work in a thriving, respected, high-demand, and essential industry
  • South Eastern Suburbs location (near Clayton)

Why join this opportunity?

The devices you help build are not ordinary products. They are precision instruments designed to support innovation, research and better outcomes in healthcare.

This is an opportunity to apply your technical skills in an environment where craftsmanship matters, your ideas are valued and your work contributes to technology that has a real-world impact.

If you are looking for a role where your hands, your mind and your attention to detail all make a difference, we'd love to hear from you.

This position is well suited to someone with experience as a Precision Technician, Optical Technician, Instrument Technician, Manufacturing Technician, Electronics Technician, Mechatronics Technician, Laboratory Equipment Technician, Medical Device Technician or Precision Engineering Technician.

Apply today and help build the future of medical technology.
