What they need
Precision Press Brake Setup Technician
Shift: 1st
Pay: $22.00 - $28.00/hr
A day in your craft
From first power-up to final inspection, you own the forming process. You interpret work orders, dial in the right tooling, and shape metal or plastic stock to exacting tolerances. Your morning may start with a die changeover and ram stroke adjustments; by afternoon, you are troubleshooting a complex sequence of bends and documenting production data that proves your results.
What you will do
- Set up, operate, and tend press brakes and related equipment to saw, cut, shear, slit, punch, crimp, notch, bend, or straighten metal and plastic materials.
- Install, align, and lock punches, dies, cutting blades, and fixtures into rams or beds using gauges, templates, feelers, shims, and hand tools.
- Set machine stops, adjust components such as rams or power presses, and perform successive passes as needed to meet specifications.
- Adjust ram strokes to specified lengths using hand tools; test and fine-tune machine speeds or actions per product requirements.
- Read and interpret work orders and production schedules to determine materials, cut lines, dimensions, and tolerances.
- Position guides, stops, holding blocks, and other fixtures; align and secure workpieces on machine beds or dies.
- Load workpieces, plastic materials, or chemical solutions into machines safely and efficiently.
- Start equipment, monitor operations, and record operational data for traceability and process control.
- Measure completed parts with micrometers, gauges, calipers, templates, and rulers to verify conformance.
- Inspect finished work for surface or edge defects (e.g., chips, marring) and sort any nonconforming pieces by flaw type.
- Mark identifying information on parts for routing and inventory accuracy.
- Clean and lubricate machines to maintain peak performance and longevity; keep the work area clean and organized.
What you bring
- 2+ years of hands-on experience with press brake equipment, specifically with Amada, Cincinnati, and/or Trumpf machines.
- At least 2 years setting up, operating, or tending equipment used to saw, cut, shear, slit, punch, crimp, notch, bend, or straighten metal or plastic materials.
- Strong understanding of product conversion processes and effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in blueprint reading and demonstrated press brake competency.
Tools of precision
Every day you will rely on micrometers, calipers, gauges, rulers, templates, feeler gauges, shims, and essential hand tools to set up, verify, and maintain quality.
