Preconstruction Coordinator

McCorvey Sheet Metal is a family-owned and operated construction company specializing in the fabrication and installation of sheet metal ductwork. We have locations in Houston, Austin, Dallas, San Antonio, Orlando, Raleigh, Charlotte, Charleston, and Nashville.

McCorvey primarily works on large-scale projects across a variety of markets, including healthcare facilities, research laboratories, sports stadiums, hospitality, government, education, and other commercial and institutional markets.

We are seeking a dedicated, organized, and efficient Preconstruction Project Coordinator to support our Preconstruction and Operations teams.

Responsibilities

Project Coordinator responsibilities include working with the Operations team to effectively hand off projects and establish communication links with Preconstruction and Estimating. This position performs various administrative and coordination tasks, like assessing risks, building logs, tracking project progression, and maintaining project documentation, from handling financial/budget queries to making sure MSM standards are being followed. To succeed in this role, you should be self-driven and have excellent time management and communication skills, as you’ll collaborate with clients and internal teams to deliver results on deadlines and successful handoff of incoming projects to the Operations team.

Job Description/Duties

• Document exchange from Estimating to Construction (build project info folders)
• Project setup – creating job numbers and updating MSM tracking logs and procedures
• Assist Preconstruction Engineers and lead with administrative and data entry tasks
• Monitor and evaluate production statistics, such as downtime and productivity. Assist in developing Procurement LOIs (does it fit the contract documents)
• Building project organization charts per project – shared duty with Operations
• Review project documents for accuracy per Local Code/Owner Standards/SMACNA – issue required RFIs and Value Engineering as required
• Coordinate with Operations using various databases managed in Smartsheet
• Subcontracts being issued in a timely manner – shared duty with Operations/Estimating
• Assisting in setting up backgrounds and handling early BIM coordination for Operations and Estimating
• Review risk management and create analysis – identify scope gaps and project concerns early to track through the project life cycle
• Provide early insight on site logistics (field input)
• Early schedule development
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure successful project handoff/turnover
• Understand lessons learned from previous projects and how they apply to new projects (+/ ) – shared duty with PM
• Participate in design decisions, evaluations, studies, value engineering and analysis, scheduling, and constructability reviews
• Update fabrication charts and submittal processes. Coordinating with other departments to ensure preconstruction templates are up to date and communicated throughout the organization

This position reports to the Preconstruction Manager.
