The role

• Reporting to the Preconstruction Director, we are looking for an ambitious individual to work in our preconstruction team.
• You will define construction logic for new build data centres working closely with Apto’s scheduler to define logic, durations and construction sequence for new builds including key components such as design, power, permitting, procurement and construction deliverables.
• You will assist with defining construction strategies in each metro.
• You will play an active part working with our customers, ensuring successful customer onboarding and incorporating customer requirements into our projects.
• You will work with the internal Commercial Team to onboard General Contractors (GC), Mechanical & Electrical Contractors and Equipment Suppliers in each metro.
• You will develop and continuously update construction employer requirement documentation.
• You will assist the Commercial Team to run tender processes and appoint supply chain in accordance with the agreed construction strategy.
• You will work closely with external partners (Joint Venture Partners, Statutory Bodies, Consultants, Private Landowners etc.) to progress pre and post land sale due diligence and preconstruction activities.
• You will work with the internal design team to help create safe, sustainable, secure and cost-effective designs advising on Mechanical and Electrical constructability options and approaches.
• You drive value engineering proposals at preconstruction stage.
• You will travel to metros to undertake preconstruction activities and provide construction guidance leading up to key construction milestones.
• You will work with the internal Commercial Team to help create budgets for each metro and help refine budgets as the design evolves.

Basic Qualifications

• Degree in construction management, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering or seven years equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of construction experience with 5+ years relevant data centre preconstruction or construction experience.
• Mechanical or electrically biased with a strong understanding of both disciplines.
• Experience defining construction logic for multi-story buildings.
• Proven track record developing and managing construction schedules.
• Demonstrate experience defining procurement strategies and managing construction tender process.
• Demonstrated ability to lead €20m+ contracts.

Preferred Qualifications

• Seven years of preconstruction or construction experience in the European data centre industry.
• Experience working with large data centre providers in multiple European metros.
• 5+ years relevant substation preconstruction or construction experience.
• Experience creating data centre schedules/programmes from first principles.
• Experience managing Data Centre tenders.
• Experience driving data centre value engineering options at preconstruction stage.
• Proven track record in creating high quality consistent documentation for processes, standards and procedures.
• Experience delivering Date Centre CSA and MEP scopes of services.
• Experience managing onsite due diligence activities.

Location

Dublin. 30% travel across Europe.
