Job Summary
The Predictive Maintenance Technician is responsible for supporting the reliability, performance, and availability of industrial machinery and equipment through the application of predictive maintenance and condition monitoring technologies. This position collects, analyzes, interprets, and communicates equipment condition data to identify developing mechanical and electrical issues before they result in equipment failure or unplanned downtime.
The Predictive Maintenance Technician will perform field service work at Company and customer locations in accordance with established quality procedures, safety requirements, customer specifications, and work orders. The position requires strong technical and mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, analytical thinking, and the ability to translate diagnostic data into clear, actionable maintenance recommendations.
The Technician will work with a variety of industrial equipment and technologies, including rotating machinery, motors, pumps, gearboxes, compressors, fans, blowers, conveyors, electrical equipment, sensors, monitoring systems, and industrial automation and control systems.
Key Responsibilities
· Perform predictive and condition-based maintenance activities using technologies such as vibration analysis, ultrasound, infrared thermography, remote condition monitoring, and other diagnostic tools.
· Collect, analyze, and interpret vibration, ultrasound, thermal, and other equipment condition data on motors, pumps, fans, blowers, gearboxes, compressors, conveyors, and other industrial equipment.
· Conduct route-based and troubleshooting vibration analysis to evaluate the condition of rotating equipment.
· Analyze vibration trends, frequency spectra, time waveforms, and other diagnostic information to identify developing equipment issues.
· Diagnose equipment conditions and potential failure modes, including imbalance, misalignment, bearing defects, mechanical or structural looseness, gear defects, belt drive issues, resonance, electrical faults, and other mechanical degradation.
· Perform diagnostic, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities associated with rotating machinery and related systems.
· Support or perform corrective reliability activities, including shaft and belt alignment, field balancing, and other condition-based maintenance activities within the scope of training and experience.
· Assist with advanced diagnostic activities, which may include motion amplification, impact testing, resonance analysis, root cause failure analysis, and other specialized testing.
· Build, maintain, edit, and improve machinery and asset databases to support accurate equipment history and condition trending.
· Utilize monitoring systems, sensors, software, dashboards, and related technology to support remote and continuous equipment condition monitoring.
· Review equipment trends and abnormalities and communicate findings that support proactive maintenance planning and reliability improvements.
· Develop clear, concise, and technically accurate reports documenting findings, equipment condition, diagnostic results, recommended actions, and repair priorities.
· Provide customers and internal teams with actionable recommendations based on diagnostic findings.
· Assist customers and maintenance teams in identifying potential causes of equipment failures and opportunities to improve equipment reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.
· Maintain accurate documentation and ensure all service records, reports, equipment data, and work-related information are completed and entered into the appropriate systems.
· Demonstrate a working knowledge of industrial equipment, machinery fundamentals, and applicable electrical and mechanical systems.
· Develop familiarity with industrial automation and control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, I/O, sensors, communications, and automated equipment, as applicable to customer equipment and diagnostic activities.
· Follow established safety procedures and maintain compliance with all applicable Company, customer, and regulatory safety requirements.
· Maintain and properly care for diagnostic equipment, tools, instrumentation, and other Company property.
· Represent the Company professionally during interactions with customers, vendors, service providers, and coworkers.
· Travel to customer locations to perform field service work as required.
· Participate in technical training and continuing education to maintain and expand predictive maintenance and reliability expertise.
· Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
