Premier Coach - Diesel Technician Apprentice - Non-CDL

PAY: High School Grad / G.E.D. From $20 per hour with a 90-day review

Two-year College graduate From $22 per hour with a 90-day review.

Will pay more for experience!

The Diesel Technician Apprentice works alongside a knowledgeable Diesel Technician to learn and further develop skills. The apprentice provides maintenance, repairs vehicles and equipment, and mainly focuses on preventative maintenance and maintaining the safety of all vehicles and equipment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Gains an understanding of basic parts, processes, and maintenance techniques as instructed by knowledgeable technicians.

Learns how to complete all work orders and perform maintenance tasks based on driver pre and post trip inspections in a timely manner.

Performs all job duties in accordance with company safety policies and regulations to ensure safe operations.

Assists senior level technicians in performing preventative maintenance inspections.

Aids senior level technicians on larger projects

Learns how to thoroughly identify defects requiring correction, which would affect the availability of the equipment and the safety of the equipment operator.

Adjusts brakes and other vehicle components.

Performs tire changes and repairs on vehicles and equipment.

Learns how to perform accurate lockout / tagout procedures.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate will have a High School Diploma or GED, must be at least 18 years of age, hold a valid driver's license, have a basic knowledge or experience in automotive, diesel or heavy equipment diagnostics and repair and must be legally eligible to work in the United States.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS

The Mechanic works in the service lane, which is in an open garage area.

Position requires stooping, bending and moving throughout the service department.

May lift up to 60 pounds occasionally.

May work with a Video Display Terminal. He/she will be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, and other hazardous and non-hazardous materials. Road-testing of vehicles also may be required.

CDL preferred within one year of full-time employment.

EVALUATION

The Service Supervisor will evaluate performance on the ability and effectiveness in carrying out the above responsibilities.
