Prep Cook

Slate by Nik Fields is looking for a dependable, hardworking Prep Cook to support our Chef and kitchen team. This is a part-time position in a fast-paced, intimate kitchen

Responsibilities

• Assist the Chef with daily food preparation and kitchen tasks
• Prepare ingredients according to recipes and Chef's instructions
• Wash, cut, portion, and organize ingredients
• Assist with plating and service as directed
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area
• Properly store and label food items
• Assist with receiving and organizing food deliveries
• Help kitchen cleanup, and closing duties as needed
• Follow food safety and sanitation standards
• Work efficiently and communicate effectively with the Chef and kitchen team

What We're Looking For

• Previous kitchen or food-preparation experience preferred
• Reliable, punctual, and dependable
• Able to follow instructions and work independently
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and small kitchen space
• Strong attention to detail
• Team-oriented with a positive attitude
• Willingness to jump in wherever needed
• Valid Food Handler Card required

Hiring Process

Qualified candidates will first participate in a brief phone interview to discuss experience and availability. Candidates who advance will be invited to a hands-on staging interview to demonstrate their skills, work ethic, ability to follow direction, and ability to work effectively in our kitchen environment.

Pay: From $16.00 per hour
