The Witch’s Cottage is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Prep Cook to support our kitchen team. This role focuses on food preparation and kitchen organization, ensuring ingredients are properly prepared and ready for service.

Prep cooks play a vital role in keeping the kitchen running smoothly by preparing ingredients, organizing prep stations, and assisting line cooks with the foundation of every dish we serve.

The ideal candidate is organized, efficient, and comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients for service including chopping vegetables, preparing sauces, portioning proteins, and assembling components
• Follow prep lists and recipes provided by the Kitchen Director or culinary leadership
• Wash, peel, cut, and portion ingredients according to kitchen standards
• Label, date, and properly store prepared foods
• Maintain organization of prep areas, walk-ins, and dry storage
• Assist with basic food preparation for menu items
• Ensure ingredients are stocked and ready for line cooks before service
• Maintain cleanliness of prep stations and kitchen equipment
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations
• Assist with dishwashing or kitchen support tasks as needed

Requirements

• Previous kitchen prep or food service experience preferred
• Ability to follow recipes and prep instructions carefully
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen environment
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
• California Food Handler Card (or willingness to obtain)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a restaurant kitchen, café, or bakery
• Knowledge of basic knife skills and food prep techniques
• Interest in cooking and growing culinary skills

Pay: $19.00 per hour
