Prep Cook

Job Summary

Pier One is seeking a reliable, skilled, and organized Prep Cook to assist with daily food preparation and help maintain high standards of food quality, freshness, and kitchen efficiency. The ideal candidate should have strong attention to detail, good time-management skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced restaurant kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients for daily kitchen operations and service
• Wash, peel, chop, slice, and portion vegetables and other ingredients
• Follow recipes and preparation instructions accurately
• Measure ingredients and maintain consistent portion sizes
• Store, label, and rotate ingredients according to food safety standards
• Keep food preparation stations clean, organized, and fully stocked
• Assist chefs and kitchen staff during busy service periods
• Monitor ingredient freshness and report low stock levels
• Clean and maintain kitchen tools, equipment, and preparation areas
• Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation procedures

Requirements

• Previous Prep Cook, Kitchen Assistant, or food preparation experience preferred
• Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment
• Strong attention to detail and food quality
• Good organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
• Reliable, punctual, and hardworking
• Strong teamwork and communication skills

Pay: £12.71-£23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 34.0 per week
