Job Summary

Hutong is seeking a reliable and organised Prep Cook to support the kitchen team with ingredient preparation and daily food preparation tasks. The successful candidate will help maintain high standards of food quality, cleanliness and safety while ensuring ingredients are ready for efficient restaurant service.

Job Description

• Prepare vegetables, herbs, sauces and other ingredients according to kitchen requirements.
• Wash, peel, chop and portion ingredients accurately.
• Follow recipes and preparation instructions provided by the chefs.
• Label, date and store prepared ingredients correctly.
• Check the freshness and quality of ingredients before use.
• Keep preparation areas clean, tidy and organised.
• Follow food hygiene and health and safety procedures.
• Use knives and kitchen equipment safely.
• Assist chefs with basic food preparation during service.
• Monitor ingredient levels and report shortages to the kitchen supervisor.
• Help receive and organise deliveries when required.
• Reduce food waste through careful preparation and storage.
• Clean utensils, work surfaces and equipment after use.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues to support smooth kitchen operations.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a professional kitchen is beneficial but not essential.
• Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques.
• Understanding of food hygiene and safe food handling.
• Ability to follow instructions and recipes accurately.
• Good organisational and time-management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and cleanliness.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Willingness to learn new preparation methods.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility to work scheduled shifts, including evenings and weekends.

Pay: £16.00-£28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 38.0 per week
