Cairo Grill is a Minneapolis restaurant rooted in craft, culture, and community, and home to Coffee by Cairo, our in-house specialty coffee brand. We’re not a chain. We’re a movement. From the grill to the espresso bar, everything we serve is made with intention. We’re open 5a to 10p, seven days a week, and we’re building our founding team. Great service starts before the rush, and our prep cook sets the foundation for everything we serve.

Pay & Schedule

• $17.75/hour + pooled tips
• Full-time, 40 hours/week: Monday–Friday, 8:00a–4:00p, with a paid 30-minute meal break
• Weekends off

What You’ll Do

• Prep for our Somali menu: wash, chop, portion, and marinate meats and vegetables
• Prepare rice, spice blends, sauces, and sambusa fillings from scratch to recipe
• Make and portion mandazi and sambusa dough
• Work through prep lists so both kitchen shifts are fully stocked
• Label, date, store, and rotate all items correctly
• Receive and put away deliveries, checking quality and accuracy
• Keep prep areas, walk-ins, and equipment clean and organized
• Jump in on the line when the team needs you

What We’re Looking For

• Kitchen or prep experience preferred (we’ll train the right person)
• Familiarity with Somali or East African cooking is a plus
• Comfortable with knives and following recipes precisely
• Organized, detail-oriented, and self-directed
• Food handler certification, or willing to get one within 30 days
• Able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs
