The Role

We're looking for an entry-level or apprentice Prep Technician to join our production team. You don't need prior experience — you need attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and the discipline to keep prep running ahead of paint so the shop never has to wait on you. You'll work directly under our lead painter and prep staff, building real hands-on skill in surface preparation.

What You'll Do

• Mask and tape vehicles for paint prep per job specs
• Wet sand and prep panels to spec ahead of the paint schedule
• Unmask vehicles after paint and prep small parts for reassembly
• Keep the prep deck stocked and organized — tape, paper, sandpaper, and small parts staged and ready
• Flag any vehicle needing body correction before it reaches the paint line
• Keep prep and shared work areas clean as you go — a clean shop is a safe shop
• Attend the daily morning huddle and communicate what's ready, what's not, and any blockers
• Take direction from the lead painter and prep team, and work toward measurable skill milestones as you progress
• Handle materials and equipment safely and responsibly

What We're Looking For

• No prior auto body prep experience required — this is a genuine apprentice-track role
• Strong attention to detail — surface prep quality determines paint quality
• Reliable attendance and punctuality — prep has to stay ahead of the paint schedule every day
• Coachable: takes feedback well and applies it
• Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in a shop environment
• Comfortable working around paint materials and dust with proper PPE
• Valid driver's license
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred, not required

Schedule

• Shop hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (occasional Saturdays by arrangement)
• Daily production huddle at 8:15 AM
• Last spray start time is 3:30 PM sharp — prep work is scheduled to support that cutoff
