VPK Assistant Preschool Teacher – Full Time

Do you love working with preschoolers and helping children prepare for kindergarten? Life Learning Academy is looking for a positive, dependable, and caring VPK Assistant Preschool Teacher to join our teaching team.

We are looking for someone who enjoys working with children ages 0–5, works well as part of a classroom team, and is committed to helping children build the academic, social, emotional, and independence skills they need for kindergarten.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead VPK Teacher with daily classroom activities and routines
• Support age-appropriate VPK lessons and learning activities
• Work with children individually and in small groups
• Assist with circle time, centers, literacy, early math, writing, art, and hands-on learning
• Help children develop kindergarten-readiness skills
• Support positive classroom behavior and reinforce classroom expectations
• Encourage independence, communication, problem-solving, and social-emotional development
• Prepare classroom materials and learning activities
• Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and welcoming classroom
• Supervise children during classroom activities, meals, outdoor play, transitions, and daily routines
• Communicate professionally with teachers, administration, children, and families
• Work collaboratively with the Lead Teacher and other staff members
• Assist in other classrooms or provide teacher coverage as needed to maintain required teacher-to-child ratios
• Follow all school, VPK, DCF, licensing, health, and safety requirements

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Previous preschool or childcare experience preferred
• Experience working with children ages 4–5 strongly preferred
• VPK classroom experience is a plus
• Florida DCF Child Care Training preferred
• Candidates currently completing required DCF training may also be considered
• CDA, Staff Credential, or other early childhood education credential is a plus
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Patient, dependable, energetic, and professional
• Ability to follow lesson plans and classroom routines
• Comfortable assisting children with early literacy, writing, numbers, and kindergarten-readiness activities
• Flexible and willing to assist throughout the school as needed
• Proficient in English
• Spanish and/or Creole is a plus
• Reliable attendance, punctuality, and availability to work the full 9:00 AM–6:00 PM schedule are essential for this position

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35.0 – 40.0 per week
