At Good Shepherd Lutheran School, we believe young children thrive when they feel known, loved, safe, and encouraged to explore. Our preschool combines purposeful play, strong relationships, early learning, and a nurturing Christian environment. We are seeking a warm, collaborative Preschool Teacher who delights in helping children ages 2–5 grow socially, emotionally, physically, and academically.

What you will do:

• Create a warm, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment where every child feels valued, respected, supported, and encouraged to grow and thrive.
• Plan and lead developmentally appropriate, play-based learning experiences that build language, early literacy and numeracy, creativity, curiosity, motor skills, and social-emotional growth.
• Establish consistent daily routines that balance active play, outdoor exploration, rest, small-group instruction, and child-directed discovery.
• Observe and document children’s development; communicate progress, celebrations, and concerns thoughtfully with families and school leadership.
• Use positive guidance and age-appropriate strategies to help children build independence, kindness, problem-solving skills, and healthy friendships.
• Partner with fellow teachers, assistants, and school leadership to support a safe, organized, joyful preschool program.
• Maintain classroom supervision, health and safety practices, confidentiality, and required records in accordance with school policies and applicable licensing requirements.

What you bring:

• At least 12 semester units in early childhood education/child development, including coursework appropriate to the assigned role; additional qualifications may be required under California licensing rules.
• Two to three years of preschool teaching experience preferred; experience with children ages 2–3 especially valued.
• Knowledge of child development, developmentally appropriate practice, and engaging early childhood curriculum.
• Strong communication, teamwork, patience, reliability, and a genuine love for young children.
• Ability to meet applicable background clearance, health screening, mandated reporter training, and pediatric CPR/first aid requirements for the position.
