Pricing manager

a well-established, Dubai-based Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier (NVOCC) with a strong global network and a rapidly growing footprint in the Indian subcontinent. We specialize in providing competitive ocean freight solutions, LCL consolidation, and multimodal logistics services. We are currently seeking an experienced and strategic Pricing Head to lead our pricing function at our Mumbai branch.

Job Summary

The Pricing Head will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the pricing strategy for the Mumbai office. This role requires a deep understanding of the NVOCC business model, strong relationships with shipping lines, and the ability to balance market competitiveness with profitability. The ideal candidate will lead rate negotiations, support the sales team with winning quotes, and drive the overall commercial success of the branch.

Key Responsibilities

• Rate Procurement: Negotiate and secure competitive contract and spot rates from shipping lines, feeders, and transporters for various trade lanes (especially India–UAE, India–Far East, and Europe/US).
• Pricing Strategy: Develop and execute pricing strategies that maximize load factors and gross margins while remaining competitive in the market.
• Quotation Management: Oversee the preparation and issuance of customer quotations (FCL/LCL) in coordination with the sales team; ensure timely turnaround on RFQs.
• Market Analysis: Continuously monitor freight market trends, competitor pricing, capacity fluctuations, and surcharge changes to adjust pricing models accordingly.
• Team Leadership: Manage, train, and mentor the pricing executives/analysts at the Mumbai branch.
• Profitability Monitoring: Track account profitability, analyze P&L reports, and recommend corrective actions for underperforming lanes or accounts.
• Stakeholder Coordination: Act as the primary pricing point of contact between the Mumbai branch and the Dubai headquarters, ensuring alignment with global commercial goals.
• System Management: Maintain and update rates in the company’s freight management/TMS software.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Commerce, or a related field. MBA is a plus.
• Experience: Minimum 8–12 years of experience in freight forwarding / NVOCC operations, with at least 3–5 years in a pricing or rate management leadership role.
• Industry Knowledge:
• Strong understanding of NVOCC operations and ocean freight dynamics.
• In-depth knowledge of Mumbai/India import-export trade lanes and port operations.
• Familiarity with Dubai/UAE market dynamics is highly advantageous.
• Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (VLOOKUP, PivotTables) and experience with freight pricing software/TMS.
