PRIMARY CARE BILLING CODER

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Primary Care Billing Coder to join our healthcare administrative team. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of medical billing and coding processes, with expertise in accurately translating clinical documentation into standardized codes for billing purposes. As a Primary Care Billing Coder, you will play a vital role in ensuring precise reimbursement, compliance with regulatory standards, and efficient revenue cycle management. Your proficiency in medical coding software and electronic health record systems will support seamless billing operations within a busy primary care setting.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze patient medical records to assign appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes based on documented diagnoses and procedures.
• Ensure coding accuracy in accordance with the latest Medical coding guidelines and CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) regulations.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation discrepancies and improve coding precision.
• Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems for billing and coding, maintaining up-to-date and compliant medical records.
• Perform medical record abstraction to extract relevant clinical information for billing purposes.
• Utilize medical coding software to facilitate efficient claim submission and tracking within the revenue cycle management process.
• Stay informed of changes in medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and coding standards to ensure ongoing compliance and accuracy.
• Assist in resolving billing issues related to medical collection efforts, denials, or rejections while adhering to established protocols.

Requirements

• Proven experience in medical billing and coding within a primary care or outpatient setting.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, HCPCS, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications.
• Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and electronic health records (EHR) management for billing and coding purposes. We use Athena software.
• Experience with medical coding software and revenue cycle management tools.
• Understanding of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and medical record abstraction techniques.
• Knowledge of CMS guidelines and compliance standards governing outpatient billing practices.
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to interpret complex clinical documentation accurately.
• Effective communication skills for collaborating with healthcare providers, billing teams, and external agencies.

Pay: $47,800.00 - $57,700.00 per year
