What they need

Worklife is partnering with the New Zealand Infrastructure Commission, Te Waihanga, to recruit for a number of roles as the organisation establishes New Zealand's new investment assurance function for infrastructure.

The New Zealand Infrastructure Commission, Te Waihanga isn't the biggest government entity but our job is as big as it gets: shaping New Zealand’s infrastructure system to work better for all of us - now and for future generations. Whether it’s the roads and rails that connect us, or the pipes and powerlines that keep the lights on, we’re here to make it all deliver more value.

We take the long view, bringing independent advice, evidence-based insight and investment assurance to some of the country's biggest challenges and opportunities.  Our work helps Government make better infrastructure decisions, not just for today, but for future generations. We are trusted for our independence, respected for our expertise, and committed to improving outcomes for Aotearoa New Zealand. Our culture reflects our purpose. We are curious, courageous, collaborative and focused on making a genuine difference. We value diverse perspectives, partner meaningfully with Māori, and create an environment where great ideas are welcomed and good people thrive.

You'll bring deep expertise to some of the biggest investments within NZ.
It's crucial that you have expertise in some or most of the following areas including economics, building and reviewing business cases, procurement, engineering, asset management or delivery. Whatever it is, you'll use it to test the thinking, weigh the evidence and give honest, impartial advice that reaches senior leaders and Ministers. This is a role of true impact, and work stream leadership.
You'll also help build the frameworks and tools that lift how New Zealand invests in infrastructure, and share what you know generously with the people around you. With no direct reports you will have plenty of influence.
Your expertise, will be applied where it matters most, to:

  • Provide advice that lands with the people making the big calls for our country.
  • Have a hand in shaping how Aotearoa invests for the long haul.
  • Collaborate with a team where free thinking and honest conversations are how things work.

If you are motivated by purpose, influence and impact, and want to help improve infrastructure outcomes for generations of New Zealanders, we'd love to hear from you.
