Role Overview

The Principal Architect leads the technical design and architectural strategy for cloud solutions that GTS designs and delivers to clients. This role is responsible for driving overall cloud architectural strategy, setting technical best practices, and ensuring that complex, enterprise-scale solutions built on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) are secure, scalable, resilient, and cost-effective.

In this position, you will bridge the gap between high-level business goals and hands-on engineering execution. Beyond core GCP infrastructure, this role requires deep architectural expertise in Google’s Gemini Enterprise solutions, including Agent Platform, and CX Agent Studio, as well as Agent Search, and Agent Retrieval. You will participate directly in solution design and code reviews, establish modern software development lifecycle (SDLC) guidelines, and act as a technical mentor to architects, technical leads, and engineering teams across multiple engagements.

About You: A successful PA must be a self-starter who can manage several concurrent medium-to-large projects with differing technical workstreams. You will bridge the gap between business requirements and technical execution, working effectively with Project Managers, Business Analysts, Cloud Architects, AI Developers, Account Executives, and customer technical teams.

Key Responsibilities Architectural Strategy & AI/CX Solution Design

• Enterprise Architecture Leadership:  Define, advocate, and maintain reference architectures, blueprint patterns, and technical standards across GCP cloud-native deployments, microservices, data workflows, and customer experience solutions.

• Conversational & Generative AI Architecture:  Lead the architectural design of enterprise virtual assistants, Agent Assist tools, and customer experience platforms leveraging Gemini Enterprise for Customer Experience (GECX) , Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, and Agent Development Kit (ADK) .

• Hands-on Design Participation:  Assist in leading design sessions for complex enterprise engagements, taking ownership of high-impact decisions around LLM orchestration, prompt pipelines, API integration, data flow security, and system fault tolerance.

• Architecture Governance & Design Reviews:  Establish and lead architecture reviews. Conduct rigorous technical design reviews and code walkthroughs for key project milestones to ensure compliance with quality, performance, and security baselines.

• Cloud Infrastructure & Security:  Guide the implementation of core landing zones, multi-VPC network segmentation, Identity and Access Management (IAM), secrets management, and policy-as-code guardrails.

Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) & Engineering Excellence

• SDLC & DevOps Optimization:  Formulate development lifecycle recommendations, encompassing continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, infrastructure as code (IaC) with Terraform, and automated testing frameworks for both software and conversational AI flows.

• Best Practices Standardization:  Assist in establishing and maintaining coding standards, API design patterns (REST, gRPC), webhook integration standards, containerization guidelines (GKE, Cloud Run), and observability standards (logging, monitoring, tracing).

Team Leadership, Mentorship & Enablement

• Technical Team Mentorship:  Act as a dedicated mentor and coach to cloud architects, AI engineers, technical leads, and developers, fostering a culture of technical rigor, continuous learning, and innovation.

• Engineering Capability Building:  Develop internal technical enablement materials, reusable solution accelerators, and reference implementations to elevate team capabilities and reduce delivery times across client engagements.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration:  Partner closely with Project Managers, Business Analysts, Security, FinOps, and SRE teams to align delivery schedules with architectural dependencies and operational readiness.

Strategic Client Advisory & Thought Leadership

• C-Suite & Technical Advisory:  Serve as a trusted advisor to client leadership and stakeholders during discovery, solution pitching, and executive strategy workshops.

• Technology Evaluation & R&D:  Continuously evaluate emerging Google Cloud AI capabilities, foundation models, and third-party tools to evolve GTS’s technical capabilities and solution portfolio.

Qualifications & Requirements Experience & Education

• 7+ years of progressive experience  in software engineering, systems design, and enterprise application architecture.

• 5+ years of dedicated experience  designing, building, and deploying enterprise-scale architectures on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) .

• 3+ years of architectural experience in Conversational AI & Customer Experience (CX)  platforms, with proven hands-on design of virtual agents and generative AI integrations.

• 2+ years of experience working alongside AI agents  such as Gemini Code Assist, Antigravity, Claude Code, Codex, or similar.

• Proven track record of technical leadership, team mentorship, and leading design reviews across multi-disciplinary engineering teams in consulting or professional services environments.

• Education:  Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems (MIS), or equivalent practical experience.

Technical Competencies

• Google AI & Customer Experience Suite (Expertise):  Deep hands-on experience and architecture-level design capability with:

  • Gemini Enterprise App, and Agent Platform

  • Gemini Enterprise for Customer Experience

  • Agent Search & Agent Retrieval  (formerly Vector Search)

• Core GCP Infrastructure:  Mastery of GCP infrastructure and platform services, including GKE, Cloud Run, Compute Engine, Cloud Functions, IAM, Cloud Storage, VPC networks, and BigQuery.

• Integrations & APIs:  Functional expertise in API management (e.g., Apigee), RESTful webhooks, session handling, payload mapping, and integration with CCaaS platforms (Genesys, AWS Connect) and CRMs.

• Infrastructure as Code & CI/CD:  Advanced proficiency with Terraform and automated CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Cloud Build) for cloud and AI asset deployments.

Preferred Certifications

• Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect  (Preferred).

• Google Cloud Certified Professional Data Engineer , Professional Machine Learning Engineer, Professional Agentic Architect (Major Plus).
