Principal Architect (Dynamics 365)

We are seeking a Principal Architect – Dynamics 365 F&O & CE to serve as the senior technical and functional authority for the organization’s Microsoft Dynamics 365 ecosystem, covering Finance & Operations (F&O) and Customer Engagement (CE) , including Sales and Project Operations .

This role will combine deep Dynamics 365 architecture expertise with strong business and process knowledge, translating complex sales, marketing, project finance, and revenue processes into scalable, secure, and well-governed solutions. The Principal Architect will work closely with business stakeholders, the CIO, and IT leadership to establish the long-term architectural roadmap, maintain solution integrity, and promote enterprise-wide adoption of Microsoft best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end solution architecture for Dynamics 365 F&O and CE, including Sales and Project Operations, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards and business objectives.
• Translate business requirements across sales, marketing, project finance, and operations into scalable and maintainable Dynamics 365 solutions.
• Serve as the senior technical advisor for complex project finance processes , including revenue recognition, project costing, billing, and margin analysis within D365 F&O and Project Operations.
• Establish and maintain architecture governance standards, design patterns, and reusable frameworks for customizations, integrations, and extensions across F&O and CE.
• Design and oversee integrations between D365 F&O, D365 Sales, Project Operations, Power BI, Microsoft Fabric , and other enterprise applications.
• Assess new Dynamics 365, Power Platform, and Microsoft Fabric capabilities and recommend solutions that provide measurable business value.
• Partner with the CIO and IT leadership to define and maintain the multi-year Dynamics 365 architectural roadmap.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership for implementations, upgrades, and major enhancements , including architecture reviews, code/configuration audits, and performance optimization.
• Mentor functional and technical consultants while promoting architectural standards, knowledge sharing, and collaboration across teams.
• Serve as an escalation point for complex production issues, leading root-cause analysis and long-term remediation .
• Ensure data integrity, security, compliance, and governance across the Dynamics 365 environment in partnership with IT security and governance teams.
• Support vendor and implementation-partner management, including solution evaluations, statements of work, technical due diligence, and delivery oversight .

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 architecture, with demonstrated expertise across both Finance & Operations (F&O) and Customer Engagement (CE) .
• Proven experience architecting solutions involving D365 Sales and Project Operations .
• Strong understanding of sales, marketing, and project finance processes , including opportunity-to-cash, project costing, billing, revenue recognition, and margin analysis.
• Demonstrated ability to translate business strategy and process requirements into enterprise-level technical architecture .
• Deep knowledge of D365 F&O modules, particularly Finance and Project Management & Accounting .
• Strong experience with Power Platform , including Power Apps, Power Automate, and Dataverse.
• Experience designing integrations using Azure Integration Services, Dual-Write, and/or Data Management Framework (DMF) .
• Working knowledge of Power BI and Microsoft Fabric and their integration with and consumption of D365 data.
• Experience with marketing automation platforms , such as Dynamics 365 Marketing or HubSpot, and their integration with D365 Sales and CE.
• Strong understanding of sales pipeline management and revenue forecasting , including how these processes are modeled and reported through D365 Sales and Power BI.
• Familiarity with AI and Microsoft AI capabilities , including Copilot for Dynamics 365 and Power Platform AI Builder, to enhance sales, marketing, and finance workflows.
• Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and executive-level presentation skills .
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business , or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Microsoft certifications in Dynamics 365 F&O and/or Dynamics 365 CE , such as Solution Architect Expert.
• Experience in exhibits, experiential marketing, event services, or professional services .
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF.
• Experience leading D365 upgrades or greenfield implementations from initial architecture and design through deployment and hypercare.
