What they need
Role Snapshot
On Monday, you’re on the shop floor refining a multi-axis milling program to shave seconds off a critical aerospace component. Midweek, you’re at another facility aligning tooling standards and coaching teams through process validation for a new product launch. By Friday, you’re reviewing production data, mapping yield trends, and green-lighting a capital investment to automate a bottleneck operation. As our Principal CNC Process Transformation Engineer, you orchestrate machining excellence across multiple sites—raising quality, compressing cycle times, and standardizing best practices for aerospace and defense programs.
What You’ll Own
- Develop, refine, and standardize CNC machining processes (milling, turning, grinding) across multiple locations.
- Create and maintain work instructions, routers, and thorough process documentation.
- Lead initiatives to reduce cycle time, cut costs, and improve yield and throughput.
- Drive New Product Introduction (NPI) readiness and end-to-end process validation.
- Deploy automation and robotics to eliminate waste and stabilize quality.
- Ensure adherence to AS9100, customer specifications, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Support customer and regulatory audits; maintain documentation for traceability and configuration control.
- Provide multi-site engineering support, traveling as needed to resolve technical and operational issues.
- Partner closely with Quality, Production, Supply Chain, and Program Management to execute RCCA and continuous improvement.
- Justify, select, and oversee installation of capital equipment (CapEx) aligned to business cases.
How You’ll Collaborate
You will be a unifying force across sites—coaching teams, aligning tooling and process standards, and sharing best practices. You will regularly interface with customers and suppliers to clarify requirements, accelerate issue resolution, and strengthen compliance.
What You’ll Improve
- Cycle times and setup efficiency through methods, tooling, and program optimization.
- Scrap, rework, and downtime via data-driven root cause analysis and corrective action.
- Process capability and repeatability through standardization and robust validation.
