Principal Constructability Engineer

As a Principal Constructability Engineer within CEL our in house engineering services team, you will be responsible for delivering key elements of constructability work on commissions, primarily through the management and delivery of key documents and processes to deliver to Costain and Client promises. Our consultancy team is involved at early design stages to help the client and design teams understand the engineering and construction considerations to enable safer schemes to be developed that also reduce the impact of infrastructure projects on the environment.

As a Principal Constructability Engineers, you have a deep knowledge of your own discipline and clear appreciation of the impact on related disciplines and can train or mentor junior knowledge staff.

You will be the client / designers facing Costain representative and must manage external relationships ensuring deliverables are submitted as planned to the expected standard.

Home based, hybrid role, typically 1 day a month in London Office – with a blended approach to dynamic and home/office working to support wellbeing.

Responsibilities: Expert level contributor, source of expertise for complex problems in constructability:

Responsible for the development of first-class technical constructability advice to clients and designers and delivering value by consistently being the best at what we do.
Manage on-going relationships with internal and external client teams.
Main contributor to the management of constructability and delivery strategy development on behalf of Costain Engineering Limited.
Resolve complex issues in own specialised areas reaching out to senior company experts and solves complex problems utilising innovative thinking.
Deliver outputs to agreed schedules and standards
Participate in team meetings, sharing knowledge and proactively challenge constructability solutions
Trains and mentors’ junior knowledge workers

Thought Leading

Assists setting the strategy for commissions
Thought leader for expertise / input in complex Documents / Processes / Techniques across all commissions.
Accountable for setting the required standards of the Documents / Processes / Techniques across multiple commissions and manages its progress and submission
Leads the development of Documents / Processes / Techniques in complex commissions
Lead reviewer of deliverables.
Guides / mentors team members within the commissions they are working on.
Assists in obtaining future commissions including proposals / bids.
Supports the team management.

Manages the agreed strategy for the commission.
Responsible for the Documents / Processes / Techniques within a commission, inputs key information and manages its progress through to review and submission.
Undertakes works independently and assists others in contributing to the Documents / Processes / Techniques.

Qualifications: Significant and relevant industry including site delivery experience.
Degree level (or equivalent) in discipline specific Engineering.
