Principal Data & AI Platform Engineer, DataOps

For our client, we are seeking a Principal Data & AI Platform Engineer, DataOps to join the team of a leader in the Hospitals & Medical Centers space.

This role will shape the architecture and evolution of data platform capabilities that support reliable, large-scale data operations across the organization. You will bring AI-enabled approaches into DataOps workflows to improve pipeline resilience, observability, and operational decision-making. The position partners closely with engineering and cross-functional stakeholders to define requirements, establish reusable patterns, and productionize intelligent solutions that serve broad internal users.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $200,000 – $230,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement AI capabilities to enhance data processing systems
• Build intelligent failure detection and recovery mechanisms for data pipelines
• Develop AI-driven monitoring to detect anomalies and recommend actions
• Design and evolve DataOps capabilities for enterprise data consumers
• Productionize AI within data engineering operations with robust evaluation and observability
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements and drive solutions
• Lead architecture reviews and establish reusable engineering patterns

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience accepted
• 10+ years in data engineering, software engineering, or platform engineering with senior-level architecture experience
• 3+ years applying AI or agentic capabilities in data engineering or operational workflows
• Proven experience architecting large-scale data processing systems for broad user bases
• Hands-on experience with AI-augmented solutions, including monitoring and operational support
• Strong familiarity with modern data platforms like Databricks or Snowflake
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical design and communicate effectively across teams
