Principal – Data Centre Training & Industry Development

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Data Centre electrical professional to lead our Data Centre Training Centre. The role combines technical training and centre leadership with industry engagement, helping trainees build a clear pathway from training to OJT and employment.

The ideal candidate brings strong electrical expertise, training experience and established relationships with Data Centre owners, operators, contractors and employers in Malaysia.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Training Centre’s technical direction, trainers and training standards.
• Develop and deliver practical programmes in Data Centre electrical systems, including MV/LV distribution, switchgear, transformers, UPS, generators, ATS/STS, PDU, busway, protection and earthing.
• Train participants in electrical safety, LOTO, switching, isolation, troubleshooting and critical power operations.
• Develop curriculum, practical exercises, competency assessments and certification pathways.
• Build partnerships with Data Centre owners, operators, facility management teams, contractors and employers.
• Secure OJT and employment opportunities through employer engagement, recruitment sessions, interviews and industry visits.
• Track trainee competency, OJT placements, graduate employment and employer feedback.
• Keep training aligned with current Data Centre technologies, operational practices and workforce needs.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering or a related field.
• At least 10 years’ relevant electrical engineering or critical facilities experience.
• At least 5 years’ Data Centre or critical infrastructure experience is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of MV/LV systems and critical power infrastructure.
• Previous experience in technical training, competency assessment or workforce development.
• Established professional relationships with Data Centre owners, operators and employers in Malaysia.
• Demonstrated ability to support industry engagement, OJT placements and graduate employment.

Added advantages: Electrical competency certification or licence, Chargeman experience, trainer or assessor certification, and experience managing technical teams or developing curriculum.

Performance Measures

Performance will be assessed based on training quality, trainee competency, industry partnerships, OJT and employment outcomes, employer engagement and development of relevant programmes.

• Basic salary: RM12,000–RM18,000 per month
