Principal Data Engineer

For our client, we are seeking a Principal Data Engineer to join the team of a leader in the Media space.

This role will help shape a next-generation data platform that supports analytics, data science, and business decision-making at scale. You will lead the design and implementation of modern data infrastructure, with a strong focus on reliability, governance, and observability. The position partners closely with data science, BI, and business stakeholders to translate evolving needs into durable technical solutions.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $235,000 – $265,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and evolution of a next-generation data platform
• Drive critical implementations in the data platform
• Build and optimize high-scale batch and near-real-time pipelines
• Establish durable platform patterns for governance and observability
• Design scalable data models and data marts for analytics
• Partner with various teams to align technical designs with business needs
• Encourage an AI-first mindset in data engineering processes

Qualifications

• 6+ years of hands-on experience in Data Engineering, preferably in high-scale environments
• Strong skills in SQL, Python, Snowflake, and dbt
• Experience designing and building scalable modern data platforms
• Expertise in building batch and near-real-time data pipelines
• Proven ability to modernize complex, interconnected data systems
• Strong cross-functional collaboration with Data Science, BI, and business teams
• Effective technical leader and mentor with influence across teams
