Principal Database Administrator

The Role

• Lead cloud migration initiatives for enterprise database systems, transitioning from on-premises infrastructure to AWS.

• Manage, optimize, and re-architect existing on-premises database environments.

• Define database strategy, drive cloud modernization efforts, and advise on data architecture decisions.

• Ensure high availability, security, and performance of enterprise database platforms.

• Lead complex migration, resiliency, and performance initiatives for critical systems.

• Provide expert-level leadership for database architecture, platform strategy, and modernization efforts.

What You'll Need

• Bachelor's degree in a related field with 10+ years of experience in database administration, engineering, or related technical roles.

• Proven experience in database design, code development, administration, and systems engineering for high-performance, fault-tolerant systems.

• 8+ years of experience with multiple AWS RDS database technologies (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle) and NoSQL services like DynamoDB.

• Expertise in high-availability and disaster-recovery technologies (clustering, replication, failover, backup/restore).

• Strong background in performance tuning, indexing strategies, query optimization, and execution plan analysis.

• Experience building and maturing CI/CD practices for database changes, including schema migrations and deployment automation.
