Principal Database Engineer

For our client, we are seeking a Principal Database Engineer to join the team of a leader in the Healthcare space.

This role will shape and modernize the enterprise database foundation supporting critical healthcare applications across public cloud environments. You will lead architecture decisions, automation efforts, and reliability improvements that strengthen performance, scalability, and operational resilience. The position partners closely with platform engineering and DevOps teams to advance cloud-native database services and release practices. It is a highly visible technical leadership role with influence over standards, observability, and modernization outcomes.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $150,000 – $180,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Define and architect resilient enterprise database platforms across public clouds
• Lead migrations and modernization of SQL Server to PostgreSQL and cloud-native services
• Develop automation frameworks for database provisioning and maintenance
• Implement database release automation and CI/CD pipelines in collaboration with platform engineering
• Establish observability standards and performance analytics for database environments

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• 10+ years of experience with enterprise relational database platforms in production
• Expertise in Microsoft SQL Server and extensive experience with public cloud platforms
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and DevOps practices
• Strong background in incident response and SRE initiatives
