Principal Electrical Design Engineer

Location: Dublin, hybrid working

Salary: €85,000 to €95,000 + bonus and benefits

I’m recruiting a Principal Electrical Design Engineer for a building services consultancy in Dublin. This is a senior position with responsibility for electrical design, project delivery and supporting the development of the engineering team.

You’ll work directly with clients and design teams, taking projects from initial brief through detailed design, construction and handover.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of electrical building services, including power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting and fire detection systems.
• Prepare and review calculations, specifications, drawings and tender documentation.
• Coordinate electrical designs with mechanical, architectural and structural requirements.
• Manage project deadlines and resources, ensuring designs meet the brief and required standards.
• Attend client meetings and site inspections, providing technical advice and resolving construction queries.
• Review installation and commissioning information to support project handover.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance across the team.

Requirements

• A degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong electrical design experience within a building services consultancy.
• Proven ability to lead projects and take responsibility for technical delivery.
• A good understanding of relevant Irish regulations and electrical design standards.
• Confidence working directly with clients, consultants and contractors.
• Experience supporting and developing junior engineers.
• Chartered status, or progress towards it, would be an advantage.

Package

• Salary of €85,000 to €95,000
