Principal Electrical Engineer

We are working with an established, employee-owned engineering consultancy that is looking to bring on board a Principal Electrical Engineer to support its growing portfolio of projects across power generation, industrial facilities, energy infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead electrical engineering design across power generation, industrial facilities, microgrids and power distribution projects.
• Design medium- and low-voltage electrical systems, including switchgear, motor control centers and associated equipment.
• Perform electrical system modeling and analysis using ETAP, SKM or similar software.
• Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment specifications and engineering documentation.
• Design and review grounding, lightning protection, lighting and power distribution systems.
• Prepare and review engineering calculations, technical reports and design deliverables.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure successful project execution.
• Manage technical project budgets, schedules and engineering deliverables.
• Select and specify electrical equipment, working closely with vendors and suppliers.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers.
• Participate in occasional site visits and client meetings.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 10+ years of relevant electrical engineering design experience.
• Experience with medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems.
• Proficiency in ETAP, SKM or comparable electrical modeling software.
• Strong technical leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Experience coordinating engineering design activities across multidisciplinary projects.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with clients and project teams.

Preferred Experience

• Power generation and industrial facility electrical design.
• Microgrid and distributed energy infrastructure projects.
• Central utility plants and large-scale campus infrastructure.
• Electrical systems supporting government or mission-critical facilities.
