Principal Engineer – AI-Enabled Embedded Software

Principal Engineer – AI-Enabled Embedded Software / GenAI Orchestration / Agentic AI / Automotive

We are currently partnered with a technology organisation seeking a Principal Engineer / AI Architect to drive the integration of Generative AI and agentic AI solutions into embedded software engineering. This role focuses on architecting AI-enabled engineering platforms and orchestrating LLMs, AI agents and development tools across the automotive software development lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Define the architecture for AI-enabled embedded software engineering platforms.
• Design orchestration across LLMs, AI agents and engineering tools.
• Integrate AI into requirements, architecture, coding, testing, validation and documentation.
• Develop agentic AI solutions for code generation, testing, code reviews, root-cause analysis and workflow automation.
• Integrate AI workflows with Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket and CI/CD pipelines.
• Apply AI to embedded, real-time and safety-critical automotive software development.
• Ensure AI solutions are secure, scalable, traceable and governed.
• Support engineering processes aligned with ASPICE, MISRA, ISO 26262 and ISO/SAE 21434.
• Provide technical leadership and drive adoption of AI-enabled engineering practices across teams.

Key requirements

• University degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence or a related technical field.
• Several years of relevant industry experience.
• Strong experience with Generative AI, LLMs, RAG, prompt engineering and agentic AI systems.
• Hands-on experience with AI orchestration frameworks such as LangChain, AutoGen or CrewAI.
• Strong programming skills in Python and C/C++.
• Experience designing AI platforms, automation solutions and CI/CD workflows.
• Good understanding of Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket and Azure and/or AWS.
• Strong background in embedded software, RTOS and automotive software development.
• Knowledge of ASPICE, MISRA, ISO 26262 and ISO/SAE 21434.
